Tasting

This wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks with no malo-lactic fermentation, resulting in a dry wine with flavors and aromas of minerals, apples, pears, citrus fruit and lemon curd. This fresh, unoaked wine is medium-bodied with balanced acidity and moderate alcohol. There is a plump creaminess (especially this 2021 vintage), that is unmistakably Chardonnay, contrasted by refreshing acidity and salty minerality. As always, the fruit for this wine was hand-picked, whole cluster-pressed, and handled minimally.

The wine is wonderfully juicy with the textural interplay of both linearity and roundness that provides great pleasure and interest. There is a plump creaminess (especially this 2021 vintage), that is unmistakably Chardonnay, contrasted by refreshing acidity and salty minerality. As always, the fruit for this wine was hand-picked, whole cluster-pressed, and handled minimally. The Chardonnay (from the classic Dijon clones) was harvested from all our Chardonnay vineyards on the South Fork. Our Scuttlehole Chardonnay continues to be a favorite by-the-glass pour due to its terrific versatility in food pairing. This 2021 Scuttlehole Chardonnay continues that tradition of boundless pairing potential at the table. Comfortable with either complementary or contrasting flavors, try this wine with crisp, briny shellfish or oily bluefish and wild salmon; fresh cheeses, a citrus roast chicken or a fresh salad with duck confit. We encourage you to experiment with our Scuttlehole Chardonnay and your favorite foods as it is so adaptable, versatile and delicious. Drink now and over through the next 3-4 years. 1288 cases produced.
