This page says what Channing Daughters Winery collects through this website, why, where it goes, and how to ask us about it. It is written to be read, not skimmed past.

What we collect, and when

We collect information in two ways: when you give it to us in a form, and through analytics that measures how the site is used.

Forms

There are five forms on this site. The first four below each store what you type, the date and time, the page it came from, and your browser’s user-agent string; the fifth, sharing a tasting, is described under Your tasting companion.

• Private events inquiry (/privateevents). Two steps. When you press Continue on the first step, your name, email, phone (if given) and event type are saved right away so we can follow up even if you do not finish. The second step adds your answers about the event. Both are held together under one record.
• General contact (/contact-us). Your name, email, phone (if given), what the message is about, and the message.
• Donation request (/donation-request). The organization, its town, your name and contact details, the date needed, what is being asked for and why. We note whether the town is within roughly twenty miles of the winery, because that is the first thing we look at when deciding.
• Newsletter signup. Your email address, and a first and last name if you give them.
• Sharing a tasting (/taste). Optional; see Your tasting companion for what it stores and for how long.

Where form submissions go

• Cloudflare D1 — a database run by Cloudflare, Inc. on our behalf. Every submission is written here first. This is the record we rely on.
• Notion — the workspace where the winery’s team reads and answers inquiries, contact messages and donation requests. Each submission is copied there after it is saved.
• MailChimp (Intuit Inc.) — only newsletter signups, and only so that we can send the newsletter. MailChimp will email you to confirm before you are added to the list. Every newsletter carries an unsubscribe link.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising.

Spam protection

To keep automated junk out of the inbox, each form carries a hidden field that a person never sees and a timestamp of when the page was drawn. Submissions that fill the hidden field or arrive implausibly fast are discarded without being stored. We also limit how many submissions can come from one connection in a day; to do that we keep a one-way hash of your IP address combined with the date, which cannot be turned back into the address and is different every day. The IP address itself is not stored.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used — which pages are read, which links to the wine shop and to our reservations partner are followed, and whether the forms are completed. It is loaded through Cloudflare Zaraz, which runs the tag from Cloudflare’s network rather than from a script on the page. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to tell one visit from another. The data is processed by Google LLC under its own terms.

Reservations are made on Tock and purchases on our wine shop; both are separate sites with their own privacy policies, and each reports a completed booking or purchase back to the same Google Analytics property so we can see that a visit led somewhere.

Your tasting companion

The tasting companion saves favorites, personal notes, bottle lists and tasting history in your browser. You can download or clear them in My wines. Personal notes stay on your device: they are not sent when you share a tasting with us. Previously loaded public menus may be kept on your device for use when the connection drops.

If you choose to share a tasting with us, we store your name (if supplied), email, saved wines, recognized preferences, flight history, visit date and your consent choice privately for 3 years. Sharing a tasting does not subscribe you to marketing. Marketing has a separate, unchecked choice; new subscribers use our email provider’s confirmation process. A tasting submission does not automatically send a recap email.

We measure tasting interactions separately from submitted profiles, without including names, emails, wine lists or preference text in engagement events. Raw engagement records are deleted after 90 days. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track disable this measurement. Essential session cookies protect submissions and expire after one day.

To export or delete a tasting profile you submitted, contact info@channingdaughters.com. We retain a minimal keyed suppression record to prevent deleted or unsubscribed contacts from being re-added through this app. You can unsubscribe from marketing through any marketing email.

No cookie banner, and why

This site does not show a cookie banner. We honor the Global Privacy Control signal instead: if your browser or an extension sends it, analytics is not loaded for you and no analytics cookie is set. Most browsers can send this signal from their settings, and it applies to every site you visit rather than one banner at a time. You can also block or clear cookies in your browser at any time; the site works without them.

How long we keep things

• Form submissions: 3 years, then deleted from our database.
• Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe, plus whatever MailChimp keeps to honor the unsubscribe.
• Analytics data: Google Analytics 4 keeps visit-level data for 14 months, then deletes it.
• Tasting companion: a tasting you share with us is kept for 3 years, then deleted. Anonymous engagement records are deleted after 90 days, and session cookies expire after one day. What the app saves in your browser stays there until you clear it.

Your choices and requests

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to info@channingdaughters.com with “Privacy request” in the subject line, or by post to Channing Daughters Winery, 1927 Scuttlehole Road, Bridgehampton, NY 11932. We will need enough to find your record — usually the email address you used — and we will answer within 30 days.

Children

This site is about wine and is not directed at anyone under 21. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If what the site does changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves. We do not send notices about revisions to this page.
