2021 Lagrein – Home Farm Vineyard, The Hamptons AVA

Long Island Lagrein...delicious, singular, expressive and downright super-cool! This is the ninth vintage bottled of our Lagrein as a red wine and we are thrilled we have enough of this 2021 vintage to send to our awesome wine club. Lagrein is a bit of an off-the-beaten-track variety for the East End as we were the first winery growing and making wine out here from this great black grape variety that hails originally from the Alto Adige in Northeast Italy. Our 2022 version has a deep purple, almost opaque color with clean, super youthful, sexy aromas and flavors of blue and black fruit like blueberries and black raspberries; along with black pepper and graphite, purple flowers (iris and violets), cocoa, stone, mineral and an alluring exotic resin note. This is seriously distinctive stuff. It is a satisfyingly rich, deep red wine with an uplifting elegance and lightness of being likely due to the juicy acidity and the wine's medium-body and moderate alcohol. As always, this vintage of Lagrein saw the grapes hand-harvested, de-stemmed, crushed by foot, punched down by hand and fermented ambiently...old-school! This wine then spent ten months in older neutral French oak barrels. It stayed in barrel without movement until we racked and bottled the wine. Only 148 cases of this divine Lagrein were bottled so don't sit around if you want to take possession of your allocation! This is super tasty now but is very young and tightly wound and will develop well in the bottle for at least 5-6 years and will drink beautifully for at least a decade more. Pair this dynamic red wine with rich, savory fish dishes like monkfish wrapped with pancetta or swordfish with an olive tapenade or tuna atop seared foie gras as well as stews and braises, grain and rice dishes, especially with mushrooms and roasted meats. This would also be fantastic with cured items like speck and lardo either on a charcuterie board or even atop some crispy flatbread or pizza. 3 bottle max per customer. First come, first served…

2022 Cuvee Tropical – North Fork of LI

The last vintage we made this wine was 2016 so we are thrilled to have it back! This is is an enchanting, exotically-fruited, exuberant white wine! Our 2022 Cuvee Tropical is super aromatic and alive with white peaches, muscat grapes, yellow nectarines, golden apples, white flowers, pineapple, melon and that undeniable saline minerality that runs through so many of our wines. This light golden colored white wine is dry, medium-bodied with moderate alcohol and possesses a juicy acid balance. The wine is comprised of 58% Muscat Ottonel and 42% Chardonnay. The Chardonnay is multiple clones from our Brick Kiln and Scuttlehole Vineyards and the Muscat is from the Mudd West Vineyard on the North Fork. The Muscat was fermented wild/ambiently on its skins for 18 days and then rested in a stainless steel tank. The Chardonnay was also fermented wild/ambiently in a stainless steel tank and then the two lots were blended together. This is a delightful, gregariously aromatic, satisfying, jewel-like white wine. Our 2022 Cuvée Tropical is delicious on its own or as a match fish, poultry , fried foods, tamer blue cheeses and especially with mildly spicy foods. The Cuvée is also at home with shellfish (raw or cooked), white-fleshed fish and fresh cheeses. Our Cuvée Tropical is one of our wines that is always comfortable with a variety of world cuisines from Japanese to Indian to Mexican to Caribbean to Spanish and back to American, so we encourage experimentation. We made 408 cases of this wine. A final note...please do not drink this wine too cold - instead consume after just a few minutes in the fridge as to encourage its jovial, playful, perfumed personality. Cheers!

2019 Vino Bianco – Long Island AVA

Our Vino Bianco is a delicious, symphonic white blend. This wine celebrates both forks of the East End of Long Island and has done so since its first vintage in 2001. Likely the first "white blend" in the region, it has inspired a slew of new blends from other producers creating a vibrant category in which the Long Island region excels. Our 2019 Vino Bianco is made from 50% Sauvignon Blanc, 40% Tocai Friulano, 8% Pinot Grigio and 2% Chardonnay. The wine is alive with aromas and flavors of citrus fruit, white flowers, golden apples, lemon curd, white peaches, pears, spice, chalky minerality and the sea. The wine is juicy and texturally satisfying, succulent, complex, long and beguiling. We believe in blending because it creates complex, complete and ultimately delicious wines. This is demonstrated by the versatility of the wine at the table. Able to pair with shellfish and fish dishes as well as feel comfortable with poultry, veal (vitello tonnato) and even pork, our 2019 Vino Bianco offers a wealth of opportunities, tastes and textures. For this wine, all the varieties were harvested and vinified (approximately 50% wild and 50% inoculated) separately, and then blended together. The Sauvignon Blanc, Tocai, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio were all fermented and raised in a combination of stainless steel tanks as well as a few older oak barrels and hogsheads. This wine has benefited from some resting in the bottle and is absolutely delicious now and will drink wonderfully for at least another three to four years. 388 cases produced. No limits and a seriously great value!

2020 Sylvanus Skins

Sylvanus is a wine of place, a vin de terroir. Sylvanus is a wine made from white grapes that in the past we have produced as a still, modern, aromatic style and as a sparkling Methode Ancestrale (Pet-Nat) style. We now we have an ancient skin-fermented style or what is commonly referred to as an orange wine. This vineyard and the grapes grown there shine through in every style we have produced. We are thrilled to offer this celebratory skin-fermented version from the 2020 vintage. Lovers of past incarnations of Sylvanus will find much to adore in this version. Our 2020 Sylvanus Skins is a dry, aromatic, skin-fermented white wine. It is a field blend comprised of 46% Muscat, 29% Gewurztraminer, 20% Pinot Grigio and 5% Pinot Bianco all grown together, harvested together and fermented together. Sylvanus is not only the name of the wine, but also the name of the vineyard and the legendary Green Man who this vineyard and wine honor. In creating a field blend as opposed to blending different wine lots together, we are capturing the essence of our time and place as expressed by the Sylvanus vineyard. All of the fruit was hand-harvested, whole cluster-pressed, co-fermented on their skins in one-ton bins for 16 days until dry. The wine was matured in older oak barrels for eight months and bottled at the beginning of June 2021. Our 2020 Sylvanus Skins is a deep golden/tangerine color and possesses a clean, pronounced absurdly aromatic personality. The wine is medium-bodied, has moderate alcohol and juicy acidity. The flavors and aromas burst from the glass and on your palate and include apricots, tangerines, grapefruit and quince along with minerals and flowers like honeysuckle, magnolia and nasturtium. Our Sylvanus is juicy, tangy and alive with a long gratifying almost spicy and saline finish. This is a delicious skin-fermented wine and will pair well with a wide variety of food such as local scallops or striped bass, stuffed squash blossoms, a plethora of cheeses, oysters and clams (or a clam pie!), bucatini carbonara, pork and veal, lightly spiced Indian food, sushi and charcuterie. There is a lovely inter-play between the aromas, flavors and textures. There are ethereal qualities to this wine and its satisfying ripeness, pronounced aromatics and swelling textures encompass the paradoxical quality of aromatic lift, lightness and fleshy weight. Sylvanus Skins is super fly. 208 cases produced.

2018 Sculpture Garden — The Hamptons, Long Island AVA

This is the tenth year that our Sculpture Garden is grown and produced as a true red field blend. This beautiful light ruby red colored wine consists of 91% Merlot, 6% Teroldego and 3% Blaufränkisch. All the varieties were grown together in our Sculpture Garden Vineyard (the oldest on the South Fork, planted in 1982 & 1987), picked together and fermented wild/ambiently together. All the fruit was hand-harvested, de-stemmed but not crushed, stomped on by foot and punched down by hand. The wine went through a natural malo-lactic fermentation and was raised in older French oak barrels for 18 months. The wine was handled minimally (only racked once) and was bottled on April 8th, 2020. The wine may throw sediment over time and we would recommend decanting after several years in the bottle. The wine is delicious now and has even started to show some secondary aromas but will still improve in the bottle wonderfully for another four to eight years and drink well for a decade plus. Our 2018 Sculpture Garden smells of red and black fruit and is awash in aromas and fruit flavors of black raspberry, red plum, red cherry and briary boysenberry in addition to some smoke, brown baking spice notes and cedar chest. There is an underlying beautifully inviting tar resin and tobacco leaf quality in this seductive and complex red wine. The wine is dry and retains a medium body, moderate alcohol and balanced acidity. Our 2018 Sculpture Garden displays ripe fruit coupled with juicy acidity and youthful tension which beautifully expresses our maritime climate with its savory rather than sweet palate and elegance that is alluring. There is always a silky, smooth, supple quality to our Sculpture Garden and the great length is complemented by a textural, aromatic and flavor complexity, whose qualities truly improve with age (really, try this wine a decade out)! When feeling more formal pair this wine with Long Island duck, lamb chops or a prime rib roast and when you're in a more casual mood match with rich meaty pastas, burgers and grilled fatty fish. 2021 Diamond Petillant Naturel — AVA Finger Lakes

Diamond is a very old American Hybrid white grape variety. Over 100 years ago it was prized for sparkling wine production. In the tome "The Grapes of New York", it was written in 1905 that "Diamond is surpassed in quality and beauty by few other grapes. When to its desirable fruit characters are added its earliness, hardiness, productiveness and vigor it is surpassed by no other green grape." "Diamond is a hybrid between Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera; the touch of the exotic grape given by the Vinifera parents has been sufficient to give it the richness in flavor of the Old World grape and not overcome the refreshing sprightliness of our native grapes." We could not agree more! Our Diamond is made in the Methode Ancestrale style and bottled before the end of its wild fermentation before it is complete, trapping the carbon dioxide in the bottle resulting in a lightly sparkling or Petillant wine. This is a delicious, aromatic and playful bottle of wine. The alcohol is low at about only 9%, the acidity is mouth-watering and refreshing and the flavors and aromas are both wild and comforting, familiar and foreign all at the same time. Our Diamond is very lightly sparking, crisp, dry and what you smell and taste are mineral, citrus and tree fruits driven along with a mild "grapiness" that is alluring, cozy and crazy delicious together. Only 168 cases of this gem were made in 2021, so get it, chill it, drink it and "Shine bright like a Diamond".

2019 Petit Verdot — Mudd West Vineyard, North Fork of Long Island AVA

The new vintage of Petit Verdot is absolutely delicious! We now know and are convinced of the great potential of Petit Verdot as a stand-alone grape here on the East End of Long Island. We have made Petit Verdot into a delicious red wine in the 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and now 2019 vintages and there is no doubt it is a star in our cellar. Petit Verdot is a black grape variety most often found in the red blends of the Medoc region of Bordeaux. Planted in small quantities around the world it is a small-berried, thick skinned variety. Our 2019 version is comprised of 100% Petit Verdot all from the Mudd West Vineyard on the North Fork, so it really showcases the grape and place. The 2019 Petit Verdot is a dark, dry, spicy purple/red wine full of black and blue fruit character. The wine is rich and delicious, very aromatic and almost too easy to drink. Purple flowers, minerals, blueberries, black currants, wet stone, wild blackberries, and exotic spice are all there along with a touch of licorice or anise. So too is depth, purity and sex appeal. The wine is long, enticing, concentrated, textural, complex...simply delicious! There is balance of fruit character, moderate alcohol, juicy acidity, ripe, grippy tannins and integrated oak. As with all our red wines this wine was made from hand-harvested fruit that was de-stemmed, fermented wild, stomped on by foot and punched down by hand. The wine was raised in all older/neutral oak barrels for 21 months. This wine will match fantastically with prime rib, roast lamb and pork, grilled steaks, smoked bluefish, mushrooms, duck confit, squab and grain dishes. Our 2019 Petit Verdot is really a baby and while approachable and delectable now the wine will continue to improve in the bottle for more than a decade. We only made 388 cases, so don't wait on securing some. It may not last that long! 12 bottle max per customer (and put at least three to six of those bottles away for a long time!)

2018 Meditazione

Meditazione is an exotic, delicious, non-traditional white skin-fermented blend initially inspired by the "Vino da Meditazione" wines in the Friuli region of Northeast Italy. Some now like to call this style of wine "orange" or "amber" due to their deeper golden, orange, amber hued tones the wines take on after contact with the skins of the white grapes. This is our fourteenth vintage of this wine and we are thrilled that the following for our Meditazione by consumers, the press and sommeliers has soared. This is a style of wine that is ancient yet only relatively recently revived, touted and appreciated again in the wine world. Indeed, the color of these wines are darker than other whites due to the skin maceration, ours has a beautiful rich, deep golden almost electric orange inflected hue. Our 2018 Meditazione is comprised of 45% Chardonnay. 40% Sauvignon Blanc, 10% Tocai Friulano, 4% Pinot Grigio and 1% Muscat Ottonel.. All the fruit for this Meditazione was hand-harvested from our Mosaico block on our estate in Bridgehampton. The fruit was de-stemmed and the grapes were fermented together wild/ambiently on their skins for sixteen days in one ton open top fermenter bins. Raised in mostly neutral (89%) French and Slovenian oak puncheons, barrels and hogsheads for 34 months and followed by one year in bottle: this is a textured, aromatic and delicious white wine that appeals to both the senses and the intellect. Our 2018 Meditazione is dry, medium bodied, on the low side of moderate alcohol (12%) and possesses juicy acidity. The flavors and aromas are exotic, concentrated, penetrating and complex. They remind one of chamomile tea, citrus and apple blossoms, fresh and dried apricots, pear skin, brown baking spices, white, yellow and orange flowers, peaches, honey, caramel and dried mango. The fruit spectrum runs the gamut from herbal to citrus to stone to tropical! This rich wine has sex appeal and a long persistent finish. Our 2018 Meditazione is complex, full of deliciousness, long, lingering, sweet on the nose, savory on the palate, intoxicating, paradoxical, irresistible and still just a baby! This wine ages effortlessly for a decade plus so put some away too! Drink our 2018 Meditazione with game birds (squab, quail), pork belly, sausages, aged alpine cheeses and fish, poultry and pork dishes containing nuts, seeds or squash. It will also be excellent with veal Marsala and items with sherry sauces. Do not over chill this wine as it will mute the flavors and try thinking about it more in the context of a red wine (in fact pour it in a large glass) which will open a new universe to you. Only 468 cases were produced. 12 bottle max per customer.

HEART | 2021 White Table Wine

At the end of May 2020 amidst quarantine we had an idea and acted quickly to bring it to life. The wine was a great success and we decided to produce it one more time in the 2021 vintage as we just didn’t want to let it go!

We created HEART to celebrate our Winery, our Community and our Earth. We wanted to create something special in the bottle and send Love and Heart out into our world.

We wanted to make a new Channing Daughters wine, taking advantage of the wonderful raw materials we had in the cellar and produce a new symphonic white blend! A response to our current situation. A wine that over-delivers Deliciousness and Joy and celebrates our Winery and our Community that is helping our small business and winery and vineyard survive during these crazy days.

After blending the wine, we began brainstorming about the name and label and all that seemed appropriate was "Heart". The idea, the word, the image, the love, the organ, the metaphor, the abstraction. We imagined a series of labels inspired by Heart and Channing Daughters Winery. We wanted 12 different labels of Love and Heart to adorn the wine and fill the case. We wanted local artists, deeply connected to us and the winery. So, we asked a dozen stellar humans/local artists to create special artwork for this wine inspired by "Heart". We couldn't be more thrilled with what they all came up with and with this Gem of a wine and the Joy and Beauty created by this collaboration with our community and friends. We hope it brings the same joy and deliciousness and love and heart into your world and home. ❤

Our 2021 Heart is a symphonic white blend that combines the best of seven grape varieties. This is made from 29% Muscat Ottonel, 21% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Grigio, 18% Tocai Friulano, 6% Gewurztraminer, 5% Pinot Bianco and 1 % Malvasia. Our 2021 Heart is an exotic, symphonic white blend bolstered by aromatic bursts of Muscat aromas, fleshed out by the Pinots and Chard, with added verve, freshness and geometry provided by the Gewurz and Tocai Friulano. This is a complex and unique white wine full of deliciousness and life. The texture is plump and beguiling with cleansing acidity and a long finish. The aromas and flavors are piercing and range in fruit character from citrus to tree to stone to tropical. The Muscat really promotes those exotic, tropical, alluring aromatics. It can be hard to put the glass down. There is a generosity coupled with raciness in this dry wine that is quite satisfying and keeps one coming back for more. The Chardonnay and the Muscat/Pinot Grigio/Pinot Bianco were all fermented ambiently/wild in stainless steel. The Gewurztraminer was also fermented wild/ambiently on its skins and the Tocai was inoculated and fermented separately in stainless steel. After eight months on their lees the wines were blended together into a stainless steel tank. Our 2021 Heart was bottled on June 9th, 2022. This wine will pair beautifully with so many foods from the bounty of our bays and ocean that offer up a plethora of fish and shellfish to fresh local goat and cow's milk cheeses. Simply prepared summer and autumn veggies. Pastas, poultry and light pork and veal preps. Our Heart would easily stand up to some lightly spiced fare as well, so have fun and experiment with this one, you will love it!

2017 L'Enfant Sauvage Chardonnay

Wine Club Member Exclusive through July 2022

A new vintage of L'Enfant Sauvage is always released with great excitement. L'Enfant Sauvage is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes hand-harvested from our Brick Kiln and Sculpture Garden vineyards here in Bridgehampton. The grapes are gently whole cluster-pressed, the juice settled overnight and then all new French oak barrels are filled to the top. The ambient/wild/spontaneous yeast kick in and the wine ferments. The secondary malo-lactic fermentation also happens spontaneously and we leave the wine on its lees with no topping until blending and bottling. This release, our 2017 L'Enfant Sauvage, spent 14 months in barrel! The wine is delicious, elegant, satisfying, juicy, wild and complex! The 2017 L'Enfant Sauvage is a beautiful clear gold color and possesses clean, piercing flavors and aromas of apples, lemon curd, pears, just-baked brioche, pineapple, brown baking spices and salty minerals. The wine is dry, medium-bodied, has balanced acidity, moderate alcohol...and a long, complex, persistent finish. The aromas and flavors are fairly intense and long-lasting yet there is restraint, elegance and finesse enrobed in the rich, barrel-fermented style. One of the very rewarding aspects of L'Enfant is how approachable it is in its youth yet it really is a wine meant for 8-12 years of aging in bottle. It is thrilling to see the wine develop beautifully and still offer remarkable freshness, aliveness and potential for further development at six or eight or ten years of age. L'Enfant is always a great match for lobster, scallops, truffles, roast chicken, goose, wild salmon, arctic char and mushroom dishes. As we like to say, our 2017 L'Enfant Sauvage is a wine with a wild treble, a deep bass, a funky rhythm section, unforgettable melodies and beautiful harmony...don't miss the music! On December 14th, 2018 328 cases were bottled. 12 bottle max per customer.

2019 Dorn & Blau – The Hamptons, Long Island AVA

Our Dorn & Blau is a wine we have only made four times before and the last vintage was 2015! This new 2019 version is without a doubt the most realized and tastiest version yet. 2019 presented us with lots of beautiful fruit and both our Blaufrankisch and our Dornfelder were gorgeous, so we wanted to make this unique expression again (not to mention the blend is just plain delicious). Over the years these varieties have proven their affinity to each other and with our climate and we love to use both. So here you go...Our 2019 Dorn & Blau is comprised of 60% Dornfelder and 40% Blaufranksich. We feel the Dornfelder and Blaufranksich are a great match and together highlight the darker colors, briary, bramble, game meat and spiced fruit character of these two grapes. This 2019 wine has a dark ruby-red colored rim with purple inflections and an opaque core. The aromas and flavors are full of black raspberry, black plum, blackberry, lavender, violet, and a resiny savory spice. This is a dry, supple, sexy wine with silky texture and great concentration. The alcohol is moderate, the acids juicy and balanced; the tannins are present but soft and the wine offers a great deal of pleasure and a long delicious finish. All the fruit was hand-picked from our Sylvanus Vineyard here in Bridgehampton, de-stemmed, crushed by foot, fermented wild and punched down by hand and shovel in small one-ton bins. The wine spent eleven months in old French oak barrels and hogsheads. The wine was bottled on October 13th, 2020. Our 2019 Dorn & Blau (Sylvanus Vineyard) is a great match with wild game (flying or four-legged), venison, pork roasts, lamb burgers, sausages (especially merguez or chorizo), short ribs, truffle cheeses, hoisin and teriyaki It would be delicious with pappardelle and wild boar ragu or any salted, cured porcine product! This wine is still youthful and while quite delicious now, it will also benefit from additional cellaring for another 5-8 years. Enjoy! 158 cases produced. First come first served to the few bottles we have remaining.

2021 Ramato — Long Island AVA

Ramato is a special skin-fermented white wine, or what many are now calling an "orange" wine. Ramato refers to the old Friulian style of fermenting Pinot Grigio on its skins, thus creating a coppery-colored wine (in fact the Italian word “Ramato” refers to the copper color). All the Pinot Grigio fruit (from both our home farm in Bridgehampton and the Mudd West Vineyard on the North Fork) for our Ramato was hand-picked, handled minimally, fermented on its skins (with wild /ambient yeast) in small bins for sixteen days and raised in older French and Slovenian oak puncheons (large 500L barrels) for four months. Not only is the wine alluring and delicious to smell and taste but our Ramato possesses an absolutely gorgeous color to admire...star-bright and somewhere between electric orange and burnished copper. There are aromas and flavors of honey, brown spices, dried apricots, pear skin, tropical citrus, baked apples, caramel and peaches. The wine has balanced acidity, only 12% alcohol, medium-plus body and great persistence of flavor on the finish. This dry, exotic, textured and aromatic wine falls somewhere between a white and a red but does not fit neatly into the pink category, thus the “orange”. Pair our Ramato with hard cheeses, charcuterie, fish, chicken and pork preparations that include spices, nuts, grains or squash. Exotic, lightly spiced and earthy foods will work marvelously with this wine. Our 2021 Ramato will also be a great addition to the table year-round with its cornucopia of savory and sweet aromas juxtaposed by dryness and complex texture. This is an exceedingly delicious and exciting wine that yearns to be seen, smelled and tasted. Drink this wine now at cellar temp in large glasses and over the next six plus years.
